The Yayi Diaspora Movement (YDM), a coalition of Ogun State indigenes in the diaspora backing the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has intensified its global political mobilization drive with the conferment of Patron and Matron honours on Hon. Babatunde Olaotan and Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni, respectively.

The decoration ceremonies, coordinated by the YDM Home Base Team in Ogun State under the authority of the group’s Global Convener, Hon. Olusola Adisa, popularly known as Adunbarin, were held in Abeokuta as part of efforts to consolidate diaspora participation in Ogun State’s political and socio-economic development ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

While Hon. Olaotan’s decoration was conducted two weeks ago, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni’s investiture took place on Tuesday in Abeokuta.

Speaking virtually during the ceremonies, Hon. Olusola Adisa (Adunbarin) described the appointments as strategic steps toward strengthening the movement’s organizational structure and expanding support for Senator Yayi’s gubernatorial ambition across local and international networks.

Adisa, widely regarded by supporters as one of the leading diaspora mobilizers for Yayi’s emergence, commended the awardees for their consistent political contributions and willingness to support the movement’s objectives.

“The narrative that the diaspora does not matter is both outdated and inaccurate. We bring value, perspective and capacity that can significantly influence the future of our state”, he stated.

He stressed that Ogun indigenes abroad remain critical stakeholders in the democratic process and should be fully integrated into governance conversations and development initiatives.

According to him, the movement is not limited to politics alone but also focuses on harnessing the experience, expertise and investment potential of Ogun professionals abroad for the advancement of the state.

He described the diaspora community as “an untapped reservoir of knowledge and investment potential” capable of driving meaningful development if strategically engaged.

Responding to the honour, Hon. Babatunde Olaotan expressed appreciation to the leadership of YDM, pledging uncompromising support for the movement and its objectives.

He praised the unity and vision of Ogun indigenes in the diaspora who have rallied around Senator Yayi’s political project ahead of 2027.

“I will discharge my responsibilities as Patron with utmost dedication and stand by the movement whenever called upon”, he assured.

On her part, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni commended YDM for sustaining diaspora engagement in Ogun politics despite geographical limitations.

“Distance does not diminish our stake in the development of our homeland. We remain critical stakeholders in the progress of Ogun State”, she said.

She further promised to provide motherly guidance, encouragement and support to members of the movement in her new capacity as Matron.

In his closing remarks, the Global Coordinator of YDM, Hon. Adekunle Adegoke (Sanjay), applauded the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State and Governor Dapo Abiodun for endorsing Senator Yayi as the party’s consensus governorship candidate.

He described the decision as “bold, progressive, and visionary”, adding that Yayi’s record in the National Assembly demonstrates his readiness for higher leadership responsibility.

“His achievements are visible, impactful, and people-oriented. We are confident that as Governor, he will elevate Ogun State to greater heights”, Adegoke stated.

Premier World News reports that the increasing involvement of diaspora-based political groups in Ogun’s political landscape reflects a growing recognition of the influence, resources and strategic value of overseas stakeholders in shaping electoral outcomes and governance conversations.

Premier World News also reports that YDM’s sustained mobilization campaign and international network may become a significant factor in strengthening grassroots and external support structures for Senator Yayi ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
