The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North Local Government has intensified its ward-level grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming elections, with the Ward 8 Political Summit bringing together party leaders, stakeholders and members in a renewed drive to strengthen party unity, boost voter registration and secure overwhelming electoral support for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) and other APC candidates.
The summit, held at the auditorium of Comprehensive Academy in Ward 8, came less than a week after the inauguration of the local government-wide political summit initiative by the APC Chairman in Abeokuta North Local Government, Alhaja Faidat Akintunde Sarunmi, beginning with Ward 9.
Ward 8, which is the political ward of Alhaja Faidat, witnessed a large turnout of party faithful who reaffirmed their commitment to building a stronger and more united APC structure capable of delivering impressive electoral victories across the local government.

A major agenda of the gathering was the inauguration and engagement of 140 polling unit mobilisers, comprising 10 selected canvassers from each of the ward’s 14 polling units, alongside ward executives, party leaders, stakeholders and members.
The polling units span communities within the Lafenwa, Danger-Line, Afonta and Abule-Otun areas, among other parts of Ward 8.
According to the organisers, the mobilisers are expected to coordinate grassroots voter engagement, strengthen community participation and encourage eligible residents to register ahead of the elections.
Addressing party members, Alhaja Faidat emphasized the strategic importance of continuous voter registration, describing it as a critical factor in achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
She also urged party members to embrace and integrate new entrants into the APC fold, stressing that expanding the party’s grassroots network would further consolidate its political strength across Abeokuta North.
Reiterating what she described as “Operation No Way for Opposition” in Abeokuta North, the APC chairman called on members to remain vigilant, close every political loophole and deny opposition parties the opportunity to establish viable structures within the local government.
She appealed to party faithful to sustain their mobilisation efforts and work collectively toward delivering overwhelming votes for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) and all APC candidates during the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the summit, former Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Olayiwola Ojodu, commended the peaceful cooperation among Ward 8 members, party leaders and executives.
He praised the leadership of Alhaja Faidat for sustaining cohesion within the party and pledged his continued support toward ensuring the APC records one of its strongest electoral performances in the local government.
The political summit also attracted several prominent party stakeholders, including Hon. Ayo Abioye (Masaba), Hon. Abiodun Animashaun, Hon. Mrs. Folasayo Folawewo, Alhaji Wasiu Tiamiyu (R. Wat), former Ward 8 Councillor Hon. Adebari Adekunle, the serving Ward 8 Councillor Hon. Waheed Akomolafe, alongside other leaders and party faithful.
The Ward 8 meeting forms part of a broader grassroots political engagement strategy being coordinated across the 16 wards of Abeokuta North Local Government, aimed at reinforcing party structures, deepening voter mobilisation and consolidating support ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Alhaja Faidat Akintunde Sarunmi has consistently advocated grassroots unity and organisational discipline as key pillars of the APC’s electoral strategy in Abeokuta North.
