The Youth and Students Wings of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) on Wednesday organised a peaceful solidarity trek across major parts of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, reaffirming their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The participants also declared their support for Governor Abiodun’s reported senatorial aspiration and Senator Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, describing both leaders as critical to the party’s future in the state.

The exercise, which attracted scores of youths, students, APC supporters and party leaders, commenced at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, before proceeding through major streets of Abeokuta in a peaceful procession.

Participants displayed banners and placards while chanting slogans expressing confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu and commending Senator Adeola’s grassroots empowerment initiatives and developmental interventions across Ogun State.

Addressing participants during the event, the Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, said the solidarity trek was organised to encourage greater youth participation in the democratic process while reaffirming the movement’s commitment to the ideals and programmes of the APC.

“This solidarity trek is for our three leaders: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi)”, he said.

According to Akintunde, Senator Adeola has continued to impact young people across Ogun State through empowerment programmes and constituency-driven development initiatives.

“We have every reason to support him because we are confident that, come 2027, he will record a landslide victory”, he expressed.

“Over the past three years, President Tinubu’s reforms and Senator Yayi’s track record in empowerment, infrastructure development and constituency projects have continued to inspire many young people to support their leadership”, he added.

Also speaking, the Co-Convener of YPM, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye, described Senator Adeola as the movement’s leader and the APC governorship candidate in Ogun State.

He urged residents to continue supporting policies and programmes aimed at stimulating economic growth, creating employment opportunities and improving living standards across the state.

Organisers described the solidarity trek as peaceful, orderly and issue-driven, noting that the initiative was designed to promote political participation, strengthen unity among party supporters and encourage greater youth involvement in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event further stressed the growing role of youth-focused political organisations in grassroots mobilisation and civic engagement, as stakeholders continue to intensify political activities ahead of the next election cycle.
