Abeokuta, Ogun State – Former Ogun State governorship candidate, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, has clarified his political position ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that any future engagement must be guided by purpose, credibility and the capacity to make real impact, not desperation for office.
In a press statement issued on Sunday through his Media Office, Paseda said his political decisions are rooted in accountability to the people and the need to avoid roles that are merely symbolic or ineffective.
“Effective contribution to governance requires positions with absolute decision-making authority”, the statement read, noting that offices such as Deputy Governor, Senator or other elective positions with clear legislative or executive influence provide the platform for meaningful service.
The statement emphasized that Paseda’s stance should not be misinterpreted as arrogance or unwillingness to serve, but rather as a reflection of experience and responsibility acquired over years of political participation.
Otunba Paseda, a two-time governorship candidate in Ogun State, acknowledged his past contests but stressed that his future political relevance would not be driven by ambition alone.
“This position is not driven solely by personal ambition, but by a desire to avoid symbolic roles that limit impact and undermine responsibility to supporters”, the statement added.
Addressing speculations that he is unwilling to deputize anyone, Paseda made it clear that he is open to serving as Deputy Governor under a credible, transparent and people-oriented governorship candidate, should such an alliance align with his principles.
He also stated that he remains available for senatorial or House of Representatives engagements if called upon, explaining that service, not title is his priority.
“My name, integrity and reputation matter more to me than the desperation of political office”, he noted, while reaffirming his readiness to serve wherever his experience and capacity are genuinely needed.
The statement further disclosed that Paseda is open to partnerships with political parties that share his vision for purposeful leadership, inclusive development and good governance, particularly as political realignments ahead of 2027 continue to take shape.
Premier World News reports that the statement has clarified and positioned Otunba Paseda as a calculated political actor, seeking relevance through impact rather than optics, at a time when Ogun State’s political landscape is witnessing heightened maneuvering.
