The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will commence the nationwide display of the Preliminary Register of Voters and the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Ogun State on Friday, October 9, 2026, as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to a press release issued by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ogun State, Feyijimi Saseyi, dated October 7, the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters in the state will run from Friday, October 9, to Thursday, October 15, 2026, including Saturdays and Sundays.

The exercise will take place daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Registration Area (Ward) level across Ogun State’s 20 Local Government Areas.

INEC said PVC collection, as well as claims and objections arising from the displayed register, will take place simultaneously during the exercise at the Registration Areas.

The Commission said the PVC Collection Register will also be displayed at the same locations and times, enabling registered voters whose cards are ready to collect them at their respective Registration Areas.

After the seven-day display period, PVC collection will continue at INEC’s 20 LGA offices across Ogun State, according to the state commission.

Voters urged to verify details:

INEC urged registered voters to use the display period to carefully check their names and other details in the Preliminary Register of Voters.

The exercise also provides an opportunity for citizens to lodge claims where their names are missing or their information has been incorrectly captured.

Similarly, members of the public may file objections where they identify the inclusion of persons considered ineligible to vote, including deceased persons, non-Nigerians or underage individuals.

INEC stressed that all claims and objections must be submitted within the display period, noting that submissions would not be entertained after the deadline.

The commission said it had trained Revision Officers (REVOs) and Assistant Revision Officers (AREVOs) who would be deployed to Registration Areas to guide voters and ensure compliance with electoral procedures.

The officials, it added, are expected to promote efficiency, transparency and adherence to established electoral guidelines throughout the exercise.

INEC: Bring registration slips or valid identification:

The Commission advised members of the public participating in the exercise to come with their voter registration slips or a valid means of identification to minimize delays.

The Ogun REC also reminded eligible voters of the importance of the exercise, stating in the release: “Your PVC is your power”.

The announcement is part of the broader nationwide electoral preparations by INEC following the conclusion of the latest Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

At the national level, INEC has said the register now contains more than 103 million registered voters, following the addition of more than 10.7 million new registrants during the three-phase registration exercise.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, had also announced that nationwide PVC collection would commence on October 9, while the preliminary register would be displayed for claims and objections from October 9 to 15.

The Commission has continued to provide online voter-related services, including voter-registration status and polling-unit information, through its official platforms.

The Ogun State office reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to conducting “free, fair, credible and inclusive elections”, urging citizens to participate actively in the verification and PVC collection process.
