APC Ward 16 Launches ‘Yayi Polling Booth Ambassadors’ Initiative Ahead of 2027 Elections
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 16, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, have unveiled a new grassroots mobilisation structure known as “Yayi Polling Booth Ambassadors” as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s support base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative was announced during a stakeholders’ meeting held on June 2, 2026, at Oke Ogun Community, where party leaders and grassroots coordinators reviewed strategies aimed at boosting voter mobilisation and consolidating support for Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) and other APC candidates.
Speaking at the meeting, APC Oke Ogun Community Chairman and Ward 16 leader, Prince Akinbode Ifekayode, said the party was focused on building a strong grassroots structure capable of delivering electoral success in 2027.
According to him, the newly introduced framework will comprise 280 youths drawn from the ward’s 28 polling units, with each unit producing ten ambassadors responsible for voter engagement, community mobilisation and grassroots political coordination.
“This is not just a political exercise; it is a movement. Every polling unit must become a stronghold. Every street must feel our presence”, Ifekayode stated.
Participants at the meeting described the initiative as a strategic step towards strengthening the party’s reach at the polling-unit level and enhancing direct engagement with voters across communities.
Ward Chairman, Hon. Aliu Omosowon, urged members to remain united and committed to the party’s objectives, stressing that cohesion would be essential to achieving success in future elections.
Similarly, Hon. Seun Akinpelu encouraged party faithful to remain focused on electoral victory, noting that effective political organisation remains critical to advancing development goals.
Stakeholders, including a senior legislative aide, Sunkanmi Oyejide (Suco), also emphasized the need for sustained voter registration efforts, increased participation by first-time voters, and broader engagement with community leaders and professionals across the ward.
The meeting further called for a coordinated communication strategy to effectively project the party’s message and respond to opposition narratives ahead of the election cycle.
Party leaders unanimously resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts with a view to delivering strong electoral outcomes for the APC in 2027.
A follow-up engagement involving all selected Polling Booth Ambassadors is expected to take place within the next two weeks as the party begins implementation of the initiative.
Party members say the development reflects growing efforts by APC stakeholders in Ogun State to strengthen local structures and position the party ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive 2027 electoral contest.
