Ogun East Senatorial aspirant, Alhaji Oluwafemi Omotayo (OmoOwo), has condemned the reported kidnapping incident in Ipara, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, describing it as a disturbing act of criminality and calling for an immediate response from security agencies to secure the victims’ release.
In a statement issued on Friday, Omotayo expressed sympathy with the victims, their families and the people of Ipara, saying the incident had caused anxiety within the community.
“I am deeply saddened by the reported kidnapping in Ipara, Remo North Local Government Area. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and the entire Ipara community during this trying time”, he said.
The senatorial hopeful strongly condemned the abduction, stressing that no community should be subjected to fear or insecurity.
“No community should have to live in fear, and every resident is entitled to feel safe in their homes and on our roads”, Omotayo stated.
He urged security agencies to intensify ongoing efforts to rescue the victims safely and ensure that those responsible for the crime are arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
According to him, a prompt and decisive security response is essential to restoring public confidence and strengthening safety across affected communities.
Omotayo also appealed to residents of Ipara and neighbouring communities to remain vigilant and support security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious persons, movements or activities.
He advised members of the public to avoid isolated routes, particularly at night, while encouraging sustained cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies as part of broader community-based security efforts.
“At times like these, we must stand as one people. Through vigilance, unity and effective security collaboration, we can overcome these challenges and build safer communities for everyone”, he added.
He further assured residents of Ipara and Remo North that they were not alone during the difficult period, expressing hope that the victims would regain their freedom safely while praying for comfort for their families.
The statement comes amid growing public concern over incidents of kidnapping and violent crime in parts of the country, with stakeholders continuing to advocate stronger intelligence gathering, improved community policing and closer collaboration between residents and security agencies to curb criminal activities.
