The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has intensified consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state, meeting with the apex leadership of Abeokuta North Local Government as part of efforts to consolidate party unity and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The strategic meeting forms part of the APC’s ongoing statewide consultation across the 20 local government areas aimed at reinforcing party cohesion, expanding its support base, and positioning the party for victory in the 2027 general elections.

Addressing party leaders and stakeholders in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Senator Adeola expressed appreciation for the support received from Abeokuta North during previous elections, commending the local government for delivering victory for the APC when some councils fell short.

While acknowledging the performance, the APC standard-bearer challenged party faithful to improve on previous results.

According to him, although Abeokuta North delivered victory for the party, the margin of approximately 1,250 votes remained too narrow for the party’s expectations.

He urged leaders at all levels to intensify mobilisation efforts, deepen grassroots engagement and ensure a more convincing electoral performance in 2027.

Senator Adeola also appreciated the overwhelming support he received following the party’s consensus decision of April 13 and the subsequent reaffirmation during the APC governorship primary.

The senator further commended the leadership of the local government, particularly the party executives and council leadership, for their sustained efforts in attracting members from opposition parties into the APC.

He encouraged party members to warmly receive new entrants by integrating them into the party structure and providing them with equal opportunities to participate actively.

“Everyone should embrace our new members, integrate them into the party structure and give them a sense of belonging. Together, we will build a stronger and more united APC”, Senator Adeola said.

Speaking on behalf of APC leaders and stakeholders in Abeokuta North, the Local Government APC Chairman, Alhaja Faidat Akintunde Sarunmi, reaffirmed the commitment of the council’s leadership to delivering an overwhelming victory for Senator Adeola in the 2027 election.

She assured the APC governorship candidate that the local government would leave no stone unturned in its mobilisation efforts, confidently projecting that Abeokuta North would deliver no fewer than 35,000 votes for the party.

Sarunmi also showcased several prominent political figures and grassroots mobilisers who have recently joined the APC from opposition parties, describing the development as evidence of the growing acceptance of Senator Adeola’s candidacy and the party’s expanding grassroots strength.

Among those presented were Hon. Sunkanmi Oyejide (Suco), Hon. Moruf Ajisegiri, Comrade Westo Adekunle Adejumo, MC Murphy (Wole Sorunke), Hon. Ahmed Muiz Oladimeji (AMO), Hon.
