The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Jubril Adigun, has congratulated media practitioner, Bayo Adegboyega, on his appointment as Consultant on New Media to the National Sports Commission (NSC) under the leadership of the Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade.

In a congratulatory message made available to journalists on Saturday, Adigun described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Adegboyega’s professionalism, commitment and years of dedicated service to the media industry.

He expressed confidence that the new consultant would deploy his wealth of experience in strengthening the commission’s digital communication strategy and promoting Nigerian sports through innovative new media engagement.

According to the NUJ secretary, Adegboyega’s elevation reflects the value of competence, consistency and excellence in professional journalism and digital communication.

“This appointment is a recognition of years of hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence in the media profession. I pray that God grants him wisdom, strength and divine guidance to justify the confidence reposed in him”, Adigun stated.

Beyond congratulating the new appointee, Adigun also commended the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, popularly known as Ozogbula, for what he described as his consistent ability to identify competent professionals and create opportunities for deserving individuals.

He noted that Olopade has, over the years, demonstrated exceptional leadership by discovering talents, mentoring young professionals and empowering individuals across different sectors.

Reflecting on his personal relationship with the NSC Director General, Adigun recalled serving as Personal Assistant to former Gateway Football Club coach, Gbenga Ogunboye, during Olopade’s tenure as Ogun State Commissioner for Sports.

He added that even during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Cross River State, he continued to benefit from Olopade’s encouragement and mentorship.

“Hon. Bukola Olopade remains a source of inspiration whose leadership has positively impacted many lives. His commitment to mentoring young professionals and recognising talent deserves commendation”, he said.

Adigun urged Adegboyega to regard the appointment as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth of Nigerian sports through effective digital communication, public engagement and strategic media visibility.

He expressed optimism that the new consultant would excel in his responsibilities and further justify the confidence reposed in him by the leadership of the National Sports Commission.
