Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ketu Zone of Imeko-Afon Local Government Area have unanimously adopted Hon. Akingbade Adigun Jemili, the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, as their consensus candidate for the Ogun State House of Assembly seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was formalized in a communiqué issued at the end of a high-level strategic meeting held on Friday, at St. Patrick College, Imeko, where party leaders, elders and critical stakeholders converged to strengthen unity and align political structures ahead of the next electoral cycle.
According to the communiqué, the endorsement followed “extensive consultations and exhaustive deliberation”, and was in alignment with directives from apex party leaders to consolidate unity through consensus.
“That the APC Ketu Zone unanimously adopts the consensus reached by our State leaders which affirms Hon. Jemili Akingbade Adigun as the consensus candidate. This decision therefore, is unanimously agreed upon and binding on all members of the party”, the statement read.
The gathering, which drew a large turnout of party faithful and residents, reportedly witnessed a unified show of support, with chants and endorsements for key APC figures including Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI).















Party leaders described Jemili as a “tested and trusted” grassroots mobilizer whose candidacy aligns with the party’s broader electoral strategy.
“Hon. Jemili is a loyal party man, a grassroots mobilizer with an unmatched sphere of influence, a bridge-builder with a verifiable record of community development. His candidacy represents equity, competence and the strategic interest of the APC to retain the constituency”, the communiqué stated.
The resolution also directed ward executives, youth leaders, women leaders and party faithful across the six wards Imeko, Okeagbede Moriwi, Ilara, Iwoye, Idofa and Kajola Agberiodo, to commence immediate mobilization efforts.
In a significant show of internal cohesion, former aspirants including Hon. Olusegun Olalotan and Hon. Aliu Onsa publicly stepped down and endorsed Jemili, pledging support for the consensus arrangement.
Key stakeholders present at the meeting included; Hon. Ibikunle Benjamin, a prominent local government leader, Hon. Adebolu Rahman, APC Chairman, Imeko-Afon LGA,, among others.
Though absent, apex leader Hon. Koyode Oladele, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, Commissioner for Youth and Sports and Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka were acknowledged for their roles in stabilizing internal dynamics and facilitating alignment among stakeholders.
The communiqué further reaffirmed loyalty to the APC leadership structure at the state level, including Governor Abiodun and the party chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, while pledging full support for a coordinated electoral push across all tiers.
“We reaffirm our unalloyed support and unwavering loyalty, pledging to deploy our collective political structure and resources to ensure electoral victory”, the statement added.
The leaders also called on the State Working Committee to recognize and support the resolution to deepen party cohesion and internal democracy in the local government.
Premier World News reports that the development reflects a broader trend within Ogun APC, where early consensus-building is being deployed as a strategy to minimize internal conflict and consolidate electoral strength ahead of 2027.
With structures already being activated at ward level, the Imeko-Afon consensus move points up a coordinated grassroots mobilization effort, positioning the party for a potentially unified campaign season, Premier World News reports.
