Oniko-Elect Marks First Week in Seclusion; Reassures Ikolaje-Idiroko of Peaceful Reign

The Oniko-elect of Ikolaje-Idiroko Kingdom in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, Prince Adekanmbi Abdullahi Olayode, has reassured his people of his unwavering commitment to peace, unity and progress as he marked seven days in the mandatory traditional seclusion preceding his ascension to the throne.

Prince Olayode, who recently entered the compulsory three-month traditional seclusion rite in preparation for his coronation as the next Oniko of Ikolaje-Idiroko, issued a reflective message expressing gratitude to the people of the kingdom and reaffirming his dedication to the welfare and prosperity of the community.

Reflecting on the spiritual and cultural significance of the rite, the monarch-in-waiting described the period as a moment of deep reflection on leadership, humanity and the sacred bond between a king and his people.

“Today marks the seventh day of my sacred seclusion for traditional rites preparing me for the throne“, he said.

“This has given me deep reflection on life, humanity, faith and the bond between a king and his people.”

The Oniko-elect expressed appreciation to residents of Ikolaje-Idiroko and supporters who have continued to offer prayers, goodwill and encouragement since the commencement of the seclusion.

He gave special recognition to the Idasẹ team responsible for overseeing the seclusion rites, the revered Afobaje (kingmakers) of the kingdom, community youths and other well-wishers who have shown solidarity with him during the traditional process.

“I thank everyone who has supported me with prayers and goodwill. Special thanks to the Idasẹ team, the Afobaje (Kingmakers), youths and all the people of Ikolaje-Idiroko for their love and solidarity”, he said.

Acknowledging the rigours associated with the sacred rite, Prince Olayode noted that the experience, though demanding, is necessary to uphold the honour, unity and future prosperity of the kingdom.

“Seclusion is tough but necessary for the honour, unity and future prosperity of our kingdom”, he stated.

“These days have strengthened my conviction that peace, joy, progress and success will flourish”.

The Oniko-elect further assured the people of Ikolaje-Idiroko that the confidence reposed in him would not be taken for granted, pledging to serve with humility, courage and dedication once he ascends the throne.

“I assure my people that your trust in me is valued. With God’s grace and our ancestors’ guidance, I will serve with humility, courage and dedication”, he said.

He also extended gratitude to the forefathers, custodians of tradition and traditional rulers across Nigeria for sustaining the cultural heritage and ethical foundations of the country’s traditional institutions.

“From this sacred time, I send love, appreciation and blessings to every son and daughter of Ikolaje-Idiroko. Together, our future is brighter”.

Premier World News reports that Prince Olayode’s seclusion forms part of the longstanding Yoruba traditional rites designed to spiritually, culturally and morally prepare a monarch for the responsibilities of kingship before formal coronation.
