In Nigeria, a popular Nollywood Actor, Murphy Afolabi has died at his residence in Ikorodu area of Lagos State in the early hours of Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Murphy Afolabi died of injuries sustained after he slipped and fell tragically in the bathroom.
Afolabi died in less than 24 hours that two other Nollywood actors, Saint Obi and Mukaila Adedigba, also known as ‘Alaafin Oro’ met their untimely death.
Murphy Afolabi’s real name was Olalekan Olatubosun Afolabi, and he was also known by the nickname; ‘Mufasa’. He was a film producer and director respectively.
‘Mufasa’ met his death a few days after he celebrated his 49th birthday; on Friday, May 5 precisely.
Report also has it that – ‘Mufasa’ had been ill for a while and was discharged from the hospital two days ago.
Afolabi was born on May 5, 1974, in Osun State, Nigeria. He hailed from Oroki Asala in Osogbo town.
Before his death, he was a custodian of Yoruba mores and folklores, who started his career and professional acting with a movie titled; ‘Ifa Olokun’ under the guidance of veteran actor, Fasasi Olabankewin (Dagunro) in 1998, and later produced and featured in scores of others.
His film credits also include – ‘Omowunmi’, ‘Jimi Bendel’, ‘Wasila Coded’, ‘Olokiki Oru’, ‘Idera’,‘Mari ‘Wonmi’, among others.
He was well educated, attended Ire Polytechnic, Osun State, studied; Movie Production, Mass Communications and Theatre Arts.
He won several awards for his contributions to the Nigerian film industry, including – the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Yoruba) at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2012.
The late actor was a father of three, two boys and one girl, named; Afolabi Olamilekan, Afolabi Fathia Moyosore, and Okikiola Afolabi.
His death, however came as a rude shock to thousands of his fans and colleagues, who have started paying tributes to him on social media.
Premier World News also reports that – within the last 24 hours in Nollywood, the death of the trio; Mukaila Adedigba, Saint Obi and Murphy Afolabi has put the industry in a mourning and sweaty mood.
