The Yayi Worldwide Support Initiative (YWSI) has provided financial assistance to 23 patients receiving treatment at General Hospital, Ilaro, as part of its humanitarian activities and stated support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
The outreach, held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, formed part of the initiative’s previously announced community engagement programme in Ilaro, anchored on its “Serve, Support, Empower”mission.
The beneficiaries, drawn from different wards of the hospital and undergoing treatment for various health conditions, received cash assistance to help offset medical bills and medication costs, according to the organisers.
Among the beneficiaries identified were Mrs. Akinsanya Veronica Dayo, a diabetes patient; Esther Arwmu, who suffered a miscarriage; Mrs. Olusoji Fatimah Abike, a fibroid patient; Sodiq Uthman Bolakale, recovering from a fire accident; Mrs. Awawu Abdullah, Ayelagbe Monsurat and Yonna Fifame, all receiving treatment related to Caesarean-section procedures; Ogundare Michael, with sickle-cell complications; Mr. Ogundele Rasak, popularly known as Akewi Yayi, a diabetes patient; Amore Florence, who underwent appendix surgery; Shittu Zainab, being treated for gastroenteritis and malaria; and Lawal Muktar, who sustained an arm fracture and dislocation.
The initiative said the beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture and prayed for the organisers and Senator Yayi’s 2027 governorship aspiration.
Speaking by telephone, YWSI Chairman, Mr. Oluwatosin Thompson, popularly known as King Autos, who is based in California, United States, said the initiative was established to assist needy and vulnerable people.
Thompson said the medical outreach was also inspired by Senator Yayi’s acts of giving, describing the intervention as a complementary effort by the group to support vulnerable residents.
He said the Ilaro outreach was the beginning of a broader programme, with plans to extend similar assistance to General Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, and General Hospital, Abeokuta, as well as motherless babies’ homes, indigent students and other vulnerable groups.
The group’s General Secretary, Imisioluwa Justina, said YWSI would continue to follow up with the beneficiaries to monitor their recovery and provide further assistance where possible.
The hospital management thanked the initiative for supporting patients under its care. Members of the management team who received the delegation included Mr. Adeleye A. Emmanuel, Chief Administrative Officer; Mrs. Ajibola Reginal, Confidential Secretary; and Mrs. Idiat Akintola, Assistant Director of Nursing Services.
The outreach was attended by YWSI delegates and volunteers from its Nigerian and diaspora structures, including Actress Wunmi Ajiboye, Mrs. Folake Popoola, Hon. Hassan Owolabi, Mr. Kamal Okunola, Mrs. Oluyemisi Olarenwaju, Mrs. Bukola Omotayo, Westo Adekunle Adejumo and Mr. Abayomi Ajiboye, among others.
Also present was His Royal Majesty, Oba Adio Maroof Alagbe (Arole Ogunmisi Alagbe I), the Elegushi of Egushi-Ota, Awori Kingdom, alongside other members and supporters of the initiative.
YWSI said the Ilaro intervention reflects its broader focus on community engagement, goodwill, humanitarian outreach, service and impact, while also serving as part of its support activities around Senator Yayi’s 2027 governorship ambition.
The initiative said it would continue expanding its humanitarian activities to other communities across Ogun State in the coming days.
