Prominent leaders and grassroots mobilisers within the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta South have expressed confidence in the growing popularity and political strength of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola following the massive turnout recorded during the party’s governorship primary election across parts of the state.
Among those who spoke during the exercise were Chief Sunday Sowunmi, Senatorial Chairman of the APC in Ogun Central and member of the Governor’s Elders Advisory Council; the General Secretary of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Ogun State, Tiwalade Akingbade, popularly known as Paulo Rossi; and APC Apex Leader in Abeokuta South, Teslim Sodipo.
The leaders, who addressed journalists at different wards during the governorship primary, described the exercise as peaceful, impressive, and reflective of the widespread acceptance Senator Yayi currently enjoys across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking at Ijemo Ward 5 in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, Chief Sowunmi commended party members for their large turnout and orderly conduct during the exercise.
“We are at Ijemo Ward 5 conducting the primary election of our incoming governor, His Excellency Senator Olamilekan Adeola, a.k.a Yayi. It has been very impressive. You can see for yourself that the turnout is very, very impressive,” he said.
Sowunmi stated that the atmosphere across the ward reflected a united APC structure determined to support Yayi’s governorship ambition, adding that the lawmaker had already built formidable grassroots structures across the state long before the primary election.
“Senator Yayi has done all his work before today, and God has blessed his work. Throughout Ogun State, I don’t think there is going to be any rancour or molestation. Senator Yayi has been proven and he is a son of the soil of Ogun State,” he added.
Meanwhile, at Ago-Oko Ward 3 in Abeokuta North Local Government Area, Paulo Rossi said party faithful turned out massively to affirm Senator Yayi as the party’s consensus governorship candidate.
According to him, consultations and agreements among major party stakeholders had already strengthened support for Yayi across the state, particularly at the grassroots level.
He maintained that the APC remains united behind the senator’s ambition and expressed optimism that the party would consolidate on its structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also speaking after the affirmation exercise at Ward 1 in Abeokuta South, Teslim Sodipo described the process as transparent, peaceful, and widely accepted by party members.
He urged residents and APC supporters to sustain their support for Yayi, noting that the senator’s political experience, empowerment initiatives, and grassroots engagement had continued to boost his popularity within Ogun politics.
Party members believe the public endorsements and coordinated mobilisation efforts by influential grassroots actors such as Sowunmi, Paulo Rossi, and Teslim Sodipo further reinforce Yayi’s growing political momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
Premier World News reports that the massive turnout recorded during the APC governorship primary across several wards in Ogun State has continued to signal increasing consolidation within the ruling party as leaders intensify efforts to position Senator Yayi for victory in the coming general election.
