A massive show of political strength and grassroots mobilisation unfolded in Ward 13 of Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday as leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) trooped out in large numbers to affirm support for Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, during the party’s governorship primary ahead of the 2027 general election.
The peaceful exercise, monitored by Premier World News, witnessed enthusiastic participation from party faithful, stakeholders, youths, and community leaders, further reinforcing Senator Adeola’s growing political dominance within the Ogun APC structure.
Speaking shortly after the affirmation exercise, the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, declared that Ward 13 and the entire local government remained firmly committed to delivering massive votes for Senator Yayi in the 2027 governorship election.
“We are here to support our man, the incoming governor of Ogun State, Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, with votes. You all can see party members in their large numbers coming out because of Senator Yayi. This clearly shows that Ward 13 is fully behind him and we will continue mobilising support for him ahead of 2027,” he stated.
Balogun described the APC governorship hopeful as an outstanding politician with the capacity, experience and political goodwill required to move Ogun State forward.
Also speaking, former caretaker chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Ayomide Shomide, popularly known as Ayshow, described Senator Adeola as a politician whose “record speaks at all times”.
According to him, the overwhelming turnout recorded during the primary exercise reflected the deep acceptance Yayi currently enjoys among APC members and residents across Ogun State.
“I am not surprised by the massive turnout because Senator Yayi has written his name in gold. The good deeds and performance he has delivered as Senator earned him this overwhelming support”, Ayshow said.
He further stressed that the affirmation process remained peaceful, orderly and devoid of rancour.
“It’s peaceful in Abeokuta South Local Government Ward 13 and across Ogun State. We are affirming the consensus candidate of our party for the 2027 governorship election, Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi”, he added.
Ayshow maintained that Ward 13 and the larger Abeokuta South political structure were fully aligned with Yayi’s ambition and ready to work toward securing a landslide victory for the APC in the next governorship election.
The immediate past chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Majekodunmi, also commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, describing the process as transparent and widely accepted by party members.
He urged Ogun residents and APC supporters across the state to begin massive mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party members say the growing endorsement and coordinated grassroots mobilisation for Senator Adeola across key local governments continue to position him as a formidable force in the Ogun governorship race.
