Abeokuta, Ogun State – Senator (Prof.) Iyabo Olusola Obasanjo has continued her strategic political consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election, holding a high-level meeting with the apex leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obafemi Owode Local Government.
The visit, which came shortly after her media engagement earlier in the day, is part of efforts by the former senator to consolidate grassroots support and strengthen alliances within the ruling party across Ogun State.
The delegation of party leaders, led by Engr. Babatunde Akeem Adesina, warmly received the governorship aspirant, describing her as a leader of proven capacity and political sagacity.
Those present at the meeting included the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Adesina Ogunosola; Party Chairman, Chief Idowu Olude; former Caretaker Chairman, Fatai Eruobodo; alongside other prominent political actors in the council area.










In their separate remarks, the leaders commended Iyabo Obasanjo for her early engagement with stakeholders, noting that she is the first governorship aspirant to formally visit the local government leadership ahead of the 2027 race.
They also reflected on her legacy of service, particularly her interventions through the Iyaniwura Foundation, recalling initiatives that directly impacted livelihoods, including empowerment support and mobility assistance for residents.
According to the leaders, “her track record of compassion and service distinguishes her as a humane leader who understands the needs of the people”, as they urged her not to relent in her ambition.
They further expressed optimism about her prospects, emphasizing that the people are eager for leadership defined by empathy, competence and inclusive governance.
Responding, Iyabo Obasanjo expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed her respect for party elders and grassroots leaders.
“My visit is borne out of the deep respect and honour I have for the leadership and elders of our great party and the state. I remain committed to working with you as we collectively build a stronger future for Ogun State”, she said.
She also assured the leaders of her intention to return for further consultations and consolidation meetings as the political process unfolds.
The meeting later proceeded into a closed-door session, with details of deliberations undisclosed, fueling indications of ongoing strategic alignments within the party.
