Egbe Itesiwaju Society Marks 53rd Anniversary with Awards, Thanksgiving in Ilaro

The Cathedral Church of Christ, Ilaro, in Ogun State, Nigeria, will this weekend come alive with celebration as the prestigious Egbe Itesiwaju Society commemorates its 53rd Anniversary, marking more than five decades of spiritual growth, unity and service within the Anglican Diocese of Yewa Awori.

The two-day event, scheduled for Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5, 2025, will feature a blend of spiritual thanksgiving, social fellowship and an award ceremony recognizing distinguished members who have shown exemplary leadership and dedication to the church and community.

Leading this year’s anniversary is the Society’s President, Otunba Dr. S.A.J. Ibikunle, Baba Ijo of the Anglican Diocese of Yewa Awori, a respected community leader and one of Ogun State’s most notable figures.

Under his leadership, Egbe Itesiwaju has flourished as a unifying body that promotes faith, friendship and community development within and beyond the Diocese.

The high point of the celebrations will be the Award of Honour Ceremony, during which distinguished society elders will be decorated for their steadfast commitment and contributions.

Among the honourees are Otunba Dr. S.A.J. Ibikunle, Dr. Segun Feyisitan, Prof. Adewale Laditan, Ven: Dr. Kunle Obadina and the Dean of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Ilaro.

During the Thanksgiving service, each recipient will receive a gold plaque and a medal of honour.

The celebrations will begin on Saturday, October 4, with the President’s Nite, a light social gathering hosted by the President at his residence on Alagba Street, Ilaro.

The grand Anniversary Thanksgiving Service will follow on Sunday, October 5, at the Cathedral, culminating in a family luncheon and reception at the President’s residence.

Meanwhile, goodwill messages have been pouring in from members, friends and admirers across Nigeria and the diaspora.

Notable among them are Chief Tunde Soyemi, Chairman/CEO of Whiterose Group; Prince Olugbega Adewale from Canada; Prince Afolabi Dada; and Mr. Femi Oniyide, who all extended their heartfelt felicitations to the Society and its leadership.

In a special message, Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon (YAYI), Aremo of Yewaland and proud member of Egbe Itesiwaju Society, congratulated the President, the honourees and all members, praising their unity, steadfastness and service to God and humanity.

Speaking on behalf of the President, the Vice President, Omooba Segun Adewale, FRPA, expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the Society through its 53-year journey.

He warmly welcomed members, friends, and well-wishers to what he described as “a historic celebration of faith, brotherhood and progress.”

For more than five decades, the Egbe Itesiwaju Society has remained a cornerstone of fellowship and Christian service, an honest Society with a difference.
