Ogun NLC: Gov Abiodun, NUJ, congratulate New Chairman, Ademola-Benco

Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NCL has elected Comrade Hameed Ademola-Benco as its new Chairman on Tuesday, to take over from the outgoing leader, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole.

Premier World News reports that, Ademola-Benco emerged unopposed, just as his co-contestant and incumbent Chairman, Emmanuel Bankole drop-back from the race.

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has however, congratulated the newly elected chairman and his executives, and hailed the peaceful conduct of the election held at NLC Secretariat, Abeokuta.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, on Wednesday, Governor Abiodun reiterated his commitment to the provision of conducive atmosphere for workers in the state to excel and called for the support of the NLC and workers in the state ahead of governorship election on Saturday, adding that his reelection would usher in better deals for the workers.

In the same trend, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Ogun State Council, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju-Centrism has also congratulated the new Chairman, and described his victory as a straight walk to victory and clear manifestation of the State workers’ choice.

The NUJ Chairman charged the new Labour leader on the enormous task ahead, believing that his intellect, quick thinking and probing mind are testaments to his track records of achievements in the struggle for workers’ emancipation.

Olanrewaju-Centrism also urged the new Ogun NLC executives to immediately begin work by intellectually engaging government officials at all levels, as well as management of private sectors on many grey areas as they affect the welfare and wellbeing of members.

The NUJ Chairman, therefore assured that his Secretariat is ready to give its unflinching support to the new executives in the struggle towards total emancipation of Labour movement in the State without going out of the tenets of the rule of law and precincts of the rule of engagement.

Premier World News also reports that, in the other elections, Comrade Bidemi Alafia Tayo polled 474 votes to defeat his opponents Median Nanle and Emmanuel Bello who polled 353 and 166 votes respectively to emerged the Vice Chairman.

Also, Comrade Osijo Patrick emerged Auditor having polled 445 votes to defeat his opponents.

Premier World News further reports that Comrade Hammed Ademola-Benco is from Nigeria Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees, NUAAE, and has worked in various capacities with different farms like; JAK Farm Limited in Obada Oko, Sasa Farms in Lagos.

Ademola-Benco has also been honoured with different Awards, including; Outstanding Performance by Academic Staff Union of Secondary School, ASUSS in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
