Abeokuta – As political permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State appears to be entering a decisive phase of renewal and strategic reorganisation under the leadership of its State Chairman, Hon. Abayomi Tella.
Since assuming office, Hon. Tella has steered the party away from the era of routine politics and internal inertia, replacing it with deliberate reforms aimed at rebuilding confidence, cohesion and competitiveness.

His leadership has marked a clear departure from “business as usual”, signalling a renewed resolve to reposition the PDP as a viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Under his watch, the PDP’s organisational structures, spanning the wards, local government areas, senatorial districts and the state executive, have undergone significant revitalisation.
Today, the party presents a more united, disciplined and strategically prepared outlook, with renewed confidence among members and stakeholders across the state.
Hon. Tella’s background as a former Executive Chairman of one of Ogun State’s largest local governments has continued to shape his leadership style.
His administrative experience and political foresight have translated into a results-driven approach to party management, one that prioritises structure, accountability and mobilisation.
Indeed, the growing internal stability and external visibility of the PDP under Tella’s leadership have not gone unnoticed.

Political observers acknowledge that the ruling APC is becoming more conscious that the 2027 election in Ogun State might not be won through their usual rigging and results manipulation.
Widely regarded as a grassroots-oriented politician, Hon. Tella has consistently emphasised consultation, inclusiveness and informed decision-making.
His hands-on engagement with party members at the grassroots level has helped align party strategies with local realities, strengthening internal democracy and fostering unity.
One of the most visible outcomes of this leadership style has been the emergence of young, energetic and performance-driven local government party chairmen across the state.
These leaders are spearheading mobilisation efforts and improving organisational efficiency at the base of the party structure.
Similarly, the State Executive Committee has shown renewed commitment and operational coherence since assuming office.
Beyond structure and strategy, Hon. Tella has emerged as a consensus builder and team player in the ongoing rebuilding process of the PDP in Ogun State.
His leadership reflects a blend of political pragmatism and ideological clarity, positioning the party as a credible and competitive platform capable of reclaiming power.
As the countdown to 2027 continues, the PDP’s evolving posture under Abayomi Tella suggests a party determined not merely to participate in the next electoral cycle, but to contest it with purpose, preparation and a renewed sense of mission.
