The Friends Network, a support group backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has intensified its grassroots mobilisation with an engagement with Community Development Councils (CDCs) in Odeda Local Government Area.

The delegation, led by former Ogun State governorship aspirant Hon. Kayode Tejuoso, visited the Odeda Zonal CDC as part of efforts to build wider community support for Adeola ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Adeola’s candidacy has been reaffirmed by the Ogun APC, which has described him as the party’s duly recognised candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking at the engagement, Tejuoso said the Friends Network was established by individuals who believe in Adeola’s capacity to provide effective leadership and good governance in Ogun State.

Describing Adeola as a “talk and do” politician, Tejuoso urged community leaders to support his ambition while documenting the pressing needs of their respective communities for presentation to the APC candidate.

“We want to know the pressing needs of every community and have them properly documented. Senator Yayi wants to know what our people need so that he can address those needs when the opportunity comes,” he said.

Tejuoso also urged the CDCs and Community Development Associations (CDAs) to strengthen their mobilisation efforts in support of Adeola and other APC candidates.

Responding, the Chairman of Odeda Zonal CDC, Iyasere Emmanuel Igbagbodoyin, appreciated the initiative and pledged to submit the council’s demands to the Friends Network.

Igbagbodoyin said the strength of Odeda’s community structures could translate into significant electoral mobilisation, noting that each CDA had at least 15 executives.

“If we are talking of votes, we are proud of APC. We are proud of Yayi, Shuaibu and Elemide, and we are going to give our support to all APC candidates,” he said.

He further reaffirmed the council’s support for Adeola, describing Odeda as one of the early local government areas to openly support his emergence as the APC governorship candidate.

The engagement was attended by members of the Friends Network, including Engr. Ayotunde Ayodeji, Chief Tiwalade Akingbade, Hon. (Engr.) Kennykadri Edu, Hon. Bajomo, Pastor Kunle Odewale, Pastor Lekan Araba and Hon. Ojoye Olasehinde, among others.

The meeting ended with calls for stronger collaboration between the Friends Network, CDCs and CDAs to document community needs and consolidate grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
