The recent consultative visit by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), to former Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun has generated fresh political interest, with Comrade Jubril Jamal describing the meeting as a significant step toward consolidating party unity ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The meeting, held on Friday at Amosun’s residence, forms part of YAYI’s ongoing consultations with prominent political leaders and stakeholders across Ogun State following his emergence as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate.

Jubril Jamal believes that the visit extends beyond a routine courtesy call, reflecting a broader strategy aimed at strengthening relationships with influential political blocs capable of shaping the outcome of the forthcoming governorship election.

Amosun, who governed Ogun State between 2011 and 2019, continues to command considerable political influence, particularly within Ogun Central Senatorial District, covering Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, Ewekoro and Ifo Local Government Areas.

His established grassroots political structure and loyal supporters have remained relevant within the APC, making his political network an important factor in the state’s electoral calculations.

During the consultation, Senator Adeola reiterated his commitment to inclusive leadership, unity and continuous stakeholder engagement.

According to him, his consultations across the state are designed to seek the blessings, prayers and counsel of respected leaders before embarking fully on his statewide campaign.

The governorship candidate also reaffirmed his vision of repositioning Ogun State through purposeful governance, economic expansion, agricultural development, infrastructural renewal and inclusive growth.

Jubril Jamal notes that the consultative approach is intended to reassure party stakeholders and various interest groups that every part of the state would have a sense of belonging under his proposed administration.

The public reception accorded Senator Adeola by Senator Amosun has equally been viewed as a positive signal toward strengthening cohesion within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Although no formal endorsement was announced, Jamal says the meeting demonstrates the willingness of influential party leaders to sustain dialogue and reconciliation in the interest of the party.

The Amosun consultation follows Senator Adeola’s recent engagements with several elder statesmen and respected political leaders, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, as part of his wider consultation across political and ideological divides.

Jamal believes the sustained consultations are helping to project the APC governorship candidate as a consensus builder focused on reconciliation, stability and statewide development.

Jamal also observes that in Ogun politics, securing the confidence of influential leaders often complements grassroots support, making both leadership endorsement and voter mobilisation essential components of any successful governorship campaign.
