Ogun State Governor and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on his re-election, describing the victory as a clear affirmation of the people’s confidence in his leadership.
Prof. Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), won the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday after securing 422,664 votes out of 584,054 valid votes, according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across the state’s 21 local government areas.
His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, polled 99,445 votes, while the ADC and PDP secured 8,208 and 1,401 votes respectively.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun said the result reflected the “unmistakable trust” the people of Anambra State have in Soludo’s policies and governance style.
Abiodun congratulated Soludo, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, urging him to deepen the delivery of democratic dividends and continue uniting political interests across the state for sustained development.
He said,
“With the results of Saturday’s election, the people of Anambra State spoke in clear, unmistakable terms, affirming their belief in the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
“I heartily congratulate my brother and Vice Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo and urge him to continue inspiring the people of Anambra State with life-changing policies and projects.
“By uniting various political tendencies in the state, he will further consolidate the dividends of democracy under his leadership in Anambra State”.
He commended the governor for consistently cooperating with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, calling on him to “keep the flag of democracy and good governance flying”.
