Breaking in Ekiti: Otunba Fayose Dumps PDP, Says “Our Journey Continues”

Prominent governorship aspirant in the forthcoming Ekiti 2026 election, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose (DOME), has formally withdrawn from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that his political journey will continue on a new platform.

In a statement issued Thursday in Ado-Ekiti through his media aide, Wasiu Adejumo, Fayose described the decision as painful but necessary, citing what he called “irreparable internal sabotage” and “a dangerous web of infiltration” within the PDP ahead of its primaries.

Reflecting on his years of sacrifice for the party, Otunba Fayose said he could not in good conscience lead his supporters into a compromised contest.

“Over the years, I have sacrificed my personal resources and embarked on statewide mobilisation, party building and investment. I cannot, in good conscience, lead my supporters into a contest that is already compromised”.

“To continue under such a platform would be to betray the hopes of the very people I seek to serve. I refuse to gamble with the destiny of Ekiti”, Fayose declared.

He urged his loyalists and well-wishers across Nigeria and in the diaspora to remain calm and united, stressing that the struggle for Ekiti’s future is far from over.

“This is not the end of our dream. PDP is no longer the vehicle to deliver the change Ekiti deserves. In the coming days, I will unveil a stronger and credible political platform. This is not an ending, it is a strategic new beginning”, he concluded.
