Oyo 2027: Why Yusuf Ramon Seeks to Represent Ibarapa East

  • Oluwasegun Idowu | Eruwa, Oyo State

Ibarapa East, Oyo State As Oyo State gradually approaches the 2027 general elections, conversations across constituencies are shifting from routine political calculations to deeper questions about competence, generational renewal and measurable impact.

In Ibarapa East, one name increasingly shaping that conversation is Yusuf Abiodun Ramon, a Lanlate-born technocrat whose legislative aspiration reflects both grassroots identity and structured professional discipline.

In a political landscape often dominated by familiar patterns, Ramon presents a profile anchored in analytical thinking, systems management and solution-oriented engagement.

His message is clear: representation must be practical, responsive, and development-driven.

“Representation must go beyond occupying a seat”, Ramon says.

“It must translate into preparation, competence and genuine commitment to development”.

  • Rooted in the Soil of Ibarapa East:

Born in Lanlate and deeply connected to Eruwa through maternal lineage at Ile Sobaloju, Isale Ajidun Compound, Ramon’s identity is inseparable from the constituency he seeks to represent.

From Ile Odede, Isale Alubata Compound in Ward Seven, he grew up experiencing the same infrastructural challenges, economic realities and social aspirations shared by many residents.

“I was born here. I grew up here. I understand our struggles, our strengths, and our untapped potential,” he reflects.

This rootedness, political observers note, strengthens his claim to authentic representation, one grounded not in distant ambition but lived experience.

  • Academic and Professional Foundation:

Ramon’s educational path reflects steady intellectual growth. He began at Islamic Primary School, Lanlate (1995–2001), proceeded to Baptist Grammar School, Orita Eruwa (2001–2007), and later earned a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (2009–2011).

Committed to continuous capacity building, he is currently completing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Lagos.

“Leadership today requires both technical knowledge and administrative insight”, he says. “Education is continuous preparation”.

His professional career spans more than a decade across Nigeria’s power and telecommunications sectors.

He began at Mikano International Limited as a generator installer, gaining practical exposure to industrial power systems, a critical area in Nigeria’s development landscape.

He later joined Safari Telecoms Nigeria Limited, where he received specialized training in Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) radio bands.

In 2013, he was employed as a Field Support Engineer at Netrux Global Concepts Ltd., where he worked until 2017, managing telecom infrastructure deployment and maintenance.

Since July 2017, he has served as a Field Support Engineer with Specific Tools and Techniques Ltd., a firm providing power solutions to major telecom operators including MTN Nigeria and Airtel Nigeria.

His role involves ensuring energy reliability and network uptime, responsibilities requiring discipline, precision and accountability.

For many constituents, this background signals more than résumé depth; it reflects a mindset trained in efficiency, coordination and measurable outcomes.

  • Legislative Exposure and Community Engagement:

Beyond his technical career, Ramon has acquired firsthand exposure to legislative processes, having served as a personal assistant to a former lawmaker within the progressive political family in Lagos.

That experience, he notes, provided practical understanding of constituency representation, oversight responsibilities and policy formulation.

Within Ibarapa East, he has extended support to small-scale entrepreneurs and students, demonstrating what he describes as “leadership through responsibility, not noise”.

“My interest is my people,” he states firmly. “Ibarapa East deserves strategic, responsive, and capable leadership at the State Assembly. We must move from rhetoric to results”.

  • Development Priorities for Ibarapa East:

Across Lanlate and Eruwa, development conversations remain consistent:

  • Youth employment and vocational empowerment
  • Rural road rehabilitation
  • Stable power supply
  • Agricultural value-chain expansion
  • Improved education standards
  • Stronger, more responsive lawmaking

Ramon argues that effective legislation must reflect community realities and translate into practical benefits.

Political analysts suggest his technocratic orientation aligns with a broader generational shift toward performance-driven governance, one that values competence over theatrics and structure over symbolism.

  • A Moment of Recalibration:

For Ibarapa East, the 2027 election cycle may represent more than a routine democratic exercise.

It may offer voters an opportunity to recalibrate expectations toward leadership defined by capacity, credibility and consistency.

As political alignments gradually crystallize in Oyo State, Yusuf Abiodun Ramon’s emergence signals the entry of a candidate seeking to bridge private-sector discipline with public-sector responsibility.

Whether the electorate ultimately embraces his proposition will depend on evolving political dynamics.

But one reality is increasingly evident: the conversation about representation in Ibarapa East is now framed around competence, credibility and capacity.
