In the evolving political landscape of Ogun State, the Accord Party is increasingly positioning itself as one of the most visible opposition platforms, driven by renewed grassroots mobilisation and organisational restructuring across the state amid shifting political dynamics and growing dissatisfaction with traditional party structures.
Speaking in an interview with the Premier World News correspondent on Monday, the state chairman of the party, Hon. Rotimi Michael Oke, said the Accord Party offers a political platform where members are treated with dignity and given equal opportunities regardless of their social status.
The development comes at a time when Nigeria’s political environment continues to grapple with factional disputes, leadership crises and intense competition among political parties for relevance and public trust.
Growing Visibility in Ogun:
Within Ogun State, the party’s structure has recently witnessed renewed mobilisation across local governments and wards, with leaders and members intensifying grassroots engagement to broaden participation and strengthen democratic culture.

Chairman Rotimi Oke said the party was building a political movement anchored on fairness, inclusion and participatory leadership.
“ACCORD is a platform where individuals are respected and given the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to political development. Our party is founded on principles of justice, service, truth, transparency and accountability”, he said.
According to him, these values form the foundation of the party’s growing credibility among grassroots supporters and emerging political actors.
Premier World News reports that the party’s expanding grassroots presence, internal cohesion and renewed organisational drive have helped it gain traction in the state’s evolving political landscape.
Platform for Participatory Politics:
Oke noted that, unlike many political organisations, where decisions are often imposed from the top, ACCORD promotes internal democracy by encouraging members to participate actively in decision-making.
He added that the party is particularly committed to youth development and leadership training, describing young people as central to the future of Nigeria’s democratic system.
“Young people are given opportunities to grow within the party structure and prepare for leadership responsibilities. We believe that empowering the youth politically is essential for sustainable governance”, he said.
He further emphasised the party’s commitment to grassroots empowerment, noting that community-based political engagement remains a key strategy for strengthening democratic participation.
National Roots and Political History:
The Accord Party has been part of Nigeria’s democratic landscape for over a decade and has produced several notable public office holders.
Among them is Rasheed Ladoja, the respected traditional ruler and former governor of Oyo State, who contested the governorship election on the party’s platform, bringing significant visibility to the party.
Similarly, Adebukola Ajaja served in the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015, representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency under the party’s banner.
These developments helped strengthen the party’s reputation as a platform capable of producing credible leaders within Nigeria’s democratic system.
Renewed Political Drive:
In recent weeks, the party has also launched a nationwide membership registration portal to expand its base and encourage citizens interested in value-driven politics to join the movement.
The initiative, according to party leaders, is designed to increase broader participation in democratic processes while strengthening the party’s organisational capacity across the country.
Within Ogun State, Oke said the party’s structure is becoming increasingly formidable as members continue to mobilise across communities and wards in preparation for future political contests.
“Our party believes firmly in justice, service and truth. We are building a family of politicians who put integrity and dedication to service first”.
“ACCORD is not just another political party; it is a movement for responsible leadership and genuine democratic participation”, he said.
Call for Greater Participation:
The party chairman also called on Nigerians, particularly residents of Ogun State, to take advantage of the ongoing membership registration drive and join what he described as a growing political movement committed to people-focused governance.
“As we continue to grow, we invite every well-meaning Nigerian who believes in fairness, transparency and service to humanity to come on board. Together, we can strengthen democracy and build a better future for our state and our nation”, he added.
With expanding grassroots engagement, increasing membership mobilisation and renewed leadership energy, Premier World News reports that the party may continue to reshape opposition politics in Ogun State in the years ahead.
