Iyabo Obasanjo Consolidates Support in Ifo LG, Gains Fadairo, APC Leaders’ Backing

Ifo Ogun State – Senator (Prof.) Iyabo Olusola Obasanjo has further strengthened her political footing ahead of the 2027 governorship election, as the Apex Council of the All Progressives Congress in Ifo Local Government declared its readiness to support her ambition.

The high-level engagement forms part of Iyabo Obasanjo’s ongoing statewide consultations, making her the first and so far the only, governorship aspirant to systematically visit and consolidate with apex party leadership structures across multiple local governments in Ogun State.

The Ifo APC Apex Council, led by Chief Olajoju Fadairo, warmly received the aspirant, describing her as “a daughter of the soil” and commending her proactive engagement with grassroots stakeholders.

In their separate remarks, party leaders praised Obasanjo’s track record in public service, spotlighting her tenure as former Commissioner and Senator, as well as her interventions through the Iyaniwura Foundation.

They noted that her initiatives have had direct impact on livelihoods, including empowerment programmes and mobility support for residents.

According to the leaders, “your track record of compassion and service distinguishes you as a humane leader who understands the needs of the people”, while expressing confidence in her qualifications and capacity to govern the state effectively.

They also emphasized that Iyabo Obasanjo is the first governorship aspirant to formally engage the apex leadership in the local government, describing her approach as strategic and inclusive.

Responding, Iyabo Obasanjo expressed appreciation for the reception and reaffirmed her respect for party elders and grassroots leaders.

“My visit is to come and consolidate my ambition with all the leaders in Ifo Local Government, out of the deep respect and honour I have for the leadership and elders of our great party and for the progress of our dear Ogun State. I remain committed to working with you as we collectively build a stronger future for Ogun State”, she said.

She further assured the leaders of her intention to sustain consultations and return for continued engagement as the political process evolves.

Hon. Olakunle Oluomo; Hon. Maruf Alabi Paramole; Pastor Mathieu Oladele; Hon. Bamidele Alao Obadina; Hon. Dapo Kayode; Aare Nurudeen Babatunde Alabi; Hon. Kolawole Ishola; Barr. Oduwole Olumide; and Chief Musbaudeen Arẹmu Adebesin, alongside other key stakeholders of the party in the local government.
