Properties valued at several millions of naira have been destroyed in two separate fire incidents that occurred in Ibadan and Kishi, both in Oyo State, on Wednesday night.
Premier World News gathered that the first incident took place at 17 Prestige Estate, Joop Badhour Crescent, Onírẹlẹ, Ibadan, where the living room of a four-bedroom duplex was engulfed by fire.
Although extensive damage was recorded, no casualties were reported, Premier World News reports.
Confirming the incident on Friday, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, said officers responded swiftly and prevented the fire from spreading.
According to him, “On getting there, it was the living room of a four-bedroom duplex residential building engulfed by fire. Our officers promptly launched a coordinated attack on the blaze and restricted the fire from spreading to other parts of the building”.
A second fire incident was reported at 1, Alhaji Rosco Street, Ajangba Area, Kishi, where the generator room of another residential building was severely affected.
Akinwande, who also confirmed the Kishi incident, said firefighters acted immediately to contain the situation.
In his words, “Upon arrival, it was the generator room of a four-bedroom flat engulfed by fire. The firemen swiftly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to the main building. The fire was completely extinguished within a twinkle of an eye”.
The Fire Service Chairman added that no life was lost in both incidents, while investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of the fires.
