Ogun PDP: Dr. Solarin’s Move to Abuja Leaves Staff with Mixed Emotions

Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed joy and admiration over the elevation of its State Secretary, Dr. Sunday Solarin (FCA), who recently emerged as the National Deputy Organizing Secretary of the party following the national convention held on 15 November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The convention, conducted under the leadership of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, also produced former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, as the National Chairman, while Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja was elected National Secretary.

Since the announcement, party leaders and stakeholders in Ogun State have celebrated Dr. Solarin’s rise from the state structure to the national level, describing him as “a tool for successful movement” and commending the PDP for entrusting him with a higher national responsibility.

Meanwhile, the Ogun PDP State Working Committee held its first meeting today following the convention, where members noted the absence of Dr. Solarin, who has since resumed duties at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking to Premier World News at the Ogun State Secretariat in Abeokuta, the Assistant Director of Media and Communications, Mr. Adebayo Osonuga (Manchester), said he strongly felt Dr. Solarin’s absence.

According to him, “Dr. Solarin’s intellect, decisiveness, soft-handedness, creativity, passion for success and tension-dowsing skills are greatly missed. We thank God for his well-deserved promotion”.

Premier World News further gathered that his absence was deeply felt by several other staff and workers at the secretariat, many of whom admitted the environment was noticeably quieter without him.

Among those who expressed mixed emotions were Oluwaseun Lawrence, Director of Administration; Bola Badmus, Office Assistant to the State Chairman; Babalola Seunfunmi, Executive Assistant to the State Youth Leader, among others.

They collectively acknowledged their happiness over Dr. Solarin’s elevation, while noting that his leadership presence, encouragement and team-building energy are already missed within the state secretariat.
