Germany/UK-Based Nigerian Backs Yayi for Ogun Gov ’ship

  • By Monsurat Aina | Premier World News

Nigerian-born mental health professional based in Germany and the United Kingdom, Mr. Kelvin Sodeko, has formally inaugurated a support group backing Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi) for the 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial election.

Speaking at the group’s inaugural meeting, which held at Oke-Itoku, Abeokuta, Mr. Sodeko emphasized that although he is not a politician, his close observation of political developments in Ogun State compelled him to take action.

A psychiatric nurse practitioner by profession, he stated that Senator Yayi’s unprecedented achievements in Ogun West in just two years as senator surpass what some former governors accomplished in four years.

“But I have followed politicians and monitored their development strides and I find Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi exceptional. That’s why I formed this group, ‘Yayi for Governor 2027 – Nigeria, UK/Germany & Diaspora’”,

“I am not a politician. I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner in the UK and Germany”, said Sodeko.

The support group, which has active chapters across Nigeria, the UK, Germany and the broader diaspora, is being funded personally by Sodeko, who is originally from Egbaland.

He expressed hope that Senator Yayi’s development model could be extended across all parts of Ogun State, citing it as a reason many in the diaspora could consider returning home with pride.

“If all our leaders developed Nigeria like Yayi is doing, they wouldn’t need to fly abroad for medical treatment. We have talented doctors, engineers, and professionals here, even better than some in the West, but what we lack is committed leadership”, he said passionately.

According to Mr. Friday Avoseh, Acting State Coordinator of the support group, the team was established after a careful review of Senator Yayi’s developmental interventions, especially in infrastructure, healthcare, education and empowerment across Ogun West.

“When our sponsor informed us of his intention to establish and finance a movement in support of Senator Yayi’s 2027 governorship bid, we didn’t hesitate. The performance is there for all to see, and the vision is one we fully support”, Avoseh said during the Abeokuta gathering.

With preparations already underway to expand the group’s activities to other local government areas and diaspora communities, observers believe that this movement could signal growing international and grassroots support for Yayi’s political aspirations ahead of the 2027 elections.
