A disturbing case of alleged police brutality has emerged from the Idimu area of Lagos State, where a police officer identified as Bamidele Ojo, reportedly attached to the Zone 2 Police Command, is accused of violently assaulting and stabbing an innocent civilian, Mr. Michael Ekundayo, on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
According to multiple eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at a local store where Officer Ojo reportedly confronted a man named Segun, physically assaulting him with slaps and punches.

When Segun tried to defend himself, Mr. Michael Ekundayo, another customer, stepped in to de-escalate the situation.
However, witnesses allege that Officer Ojo turned on Michael, shattered a beer bottle on his head and stabbed him twice with the broken glass.
The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital due to excessive bleeding and sustained injuries, which required urgent medical attention.
Initial medical evaluation reportedly included a demand for a ₦50,000 cautionary deposit toward a ₦180,000 bill for treatment.
Despite the gravity of the incident, the matter was reported at Area M Police Command, where an entry was made, but Officer Ojo was not detained, instead, he was allegedly allowed to return home.

Witnesses claim that the officer boasted openly that his “high-level connections” within the police hierarchy would shield him from any disciplinary action.
The victim’s family and community members have expressed outrage over the lack of immediate accountability, calling on the Inspector General of Police and relevant oversight bodies to act swiftly to bring the officer to justice.
There are also growing concerns that this is not an isolated case, as residents allege that Officer Ojo is notorious in the area for harassing civilians and brandishing firearms recklessly.
The incident, part of which was reportedly captured on video, has triggered renewed criticism of ongoing police reforms and public trust in law enforcement.
Further investigation by Premier World News reveals that the altercation may have stemmed from a failed attempt by Officer Ojo to extort Segun as sources allege that a petition previously filed by Ojo against Segun at Zone 2 Command was nullified based on available counter-evidence.

It is suspected that the officer’s aggressive behavior on Sunday may have been motivated by retaliation or an attempt to silence Segun.
The community continues to demand transparency, an impartial investigation and a strong message from the police leadership that abuse of power will not be tolerated.
