Fayose Slams Tinubu’s N10 Billion Aso-Rock Solar Project Amid National Power Crisis

Prominent aspirant for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship race and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Emmanuel Fayose (DOME), has strongly criticized the Federal Government’s recent approval of a ₦10 billion budget for a solar power grid exclusively serving the Aso-Rock Presidential Villa.

Otunba Fayose, who disclosed this in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, denounced the move as a glaring display of insensitivity and misplaced priorities, especially given the nation’s ongoing electricity challenges.

He said,

“While millions of Nigerians endure daily blackouts and businesses collapse due to unreliable power supply, the presidency is investing ₦10 billion to ensure uninterrupted electricity for itself”.

“This action reflects a leadership that is increasingly disconnected from the struggles of ordinary citizens”.

Fayose recalled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign promise to revitalize Nigeria’s power sector within his first year in office.

“It’s been over two years, and the national grid remains as unstable as ever. Instead of fulfilling his promise, the president is now isolating himself from the very system he vowed to fix,” he added.

The PDP aspirant emphasized that such decisions undermine public trust and highlight a lack of commitment to addressing the country’s pressing issues.

“Investing in exclusive solutions for the presidency while neglecting the broader populace is not only unjust but also detrimental to national unity and progress”, Fayose asserted.

He therefore called on the Federal Government to redirect its focus and resources towards comprehensive solutions that benefit all Nigerians.

He further urged a reevaluation of policies to prioritize the needs of the masses over elite conveniences.
