Former ICJ Ajibola’s death; a global loss – Adebutu

Former member of the Nigerian House of Representatives and Gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu has expressed his condolences to the Ajibola family following the demise of Prince Abdul-Jabbar Bola Ajibola in the early hours of Sunday, describing it as “a global loss”.

PremieWorldNews reports that the great Jurist, Prince Bola Abdul-Jabaar Ajibola died at the age of 89 in between the midnight of Saturday and the early hours of Sunday, 9th April, 2023 after a long-term illness.

The condolence message to the family signed by the Director of Media, Ladi Adebutu-Akinlade Campaign Organisation, Afolabi Orekoya, reads that – “the giant strides of Prince Ajibola in the legal, education and humanity in Nigeria and in the global spheres cannot be over-emphasized, as he had contributed immensely to the legal profession, international justice and academics”.

The statement said further that,Prince Bola Ajibola’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession, diplomacy, and international justice were notable and deserve every accolade”.

Adebutu further expressed his sadness to the rude shock of the news of Ajibola’s death, saying “the news of Prince Bola Ajibola’s death is a great loss, not just to his family and Nigeria but, to the entire world”

“Baba Ajibola will always be remembered as an icon of Law and Judicature, an embodiment of both the Bar and the Bench, a cerebral academician, who has impacted greatly to nation building with unbendable principles in all endeavours”

“Baba’s distinguished impacts in national and international communities as a former Judge of the International Court of Justice, former Attorney General and the Minister of Justice in Nigeria will forever be remembered”

“We take solace in the precious memories and legacies of Prince Ajibola, while expressing sympathy and support for family during this difficult time”.

Adebutu further said, “My heartfelt condolences go out to the Ajibola family. Losing a loved one is never easy, and I know that Prince Bola Ajibola’s passing will leave a great void in their lives. I pray that God will grant them the strength and comfort they need to get through this difficult time.”

“We all have come from Allah and unto Him is our return”, Adebutu concluded.

PremierWorldNews further reports that, Prince Bola Ajibola was a renowned Lawyer, Jurist and Diplomat, who served as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Nigeria from 1985 to 1991. He also served as a Judge of the International Court of Justice from 1991 to 1994, and as the President of the Court from 1994 to 1997. He was the founder, Crescent University Abeokuta.
